Reimagining elegance by TKDC
Classic luxury in the heart of Moonee Ponds.
A truly grand kitchen design, perfectly keeping in with the magnificent home it belongs to, Salisbury. The Kitchen Design Centre's (TKDC) goal was to create a space that seamlessly blended with the surroundings, as if it had always been a part of the original build. Achieving this required careful consideration of the home's high ceilings and ornate plaster cornices, which demanded taller cabinets with decorative crown moulds sitting just below.
To complement the grandeur of the living area, TKDC opted for a provincial style, with Farmers doors proving to be the only option that did it justice. The objective was to make the kitchen feel like it had always been there, and this style choice achieved just that.
TKDC also placed great importance on the functionality of the kitchen, ensuring that the important working areas were strategically located to limit user travel. The Lacanche upright oven was perfectly positioned on the south wall to be admired from the dining table, while the sink was placed in front of the existing window, surrounded by beautiful provincial-style benchtops.
They took great care to integrate the fridge and freezer seamlessly into the cabinetry on the east wall, creating a grand statement piece with varying heights and depths that face the lounge and dining rooms. The pantry was designed as an above-bench option, complete with an appliance storage area, situated conveniently to the right of the cooking and preparation areas.
Overall, this grand kitchen design allows multiple people to use the space at the same time, while still retaining a free flow. From its ornate plaster cornices to its carefully curated provincial-style features, this kitchen embodies luxury and sophistication at every turn ☆
